Chapter History

The Epsilon Alpha chapter is proud to have existed on the Lenoir-Rhyne University campus since February of 1962, when 30 brave women sought to extend Sigma Kappa's reach to Lenoir Rhyne University. Like the national founders, these women sought to create a sisterhood that would foster academic excellence, friendship, loyalty, and upstanding character within its ranks. Just like those who came before us, we at Epsilon Alpha, strive to embody the community that our predecessors dreamed of by empowering, educating, and advocating for the women within our chapter and our community. We are always thankful for the support of the university and strive to give back through service to the university and the Hickory community.

Epsilon Alpha is an award-winning chapter, recognized by the National Organization and LR's campus. While we have many success events, we are most known for our community outreach through the annual Trunk or Treat. We invite all the clubs and organizations on campus to create trunks and provide candy while the community members are invited to attend.  We use this outreach to tell more people about our work with the Alzheimer's Association and finding a cure.
